Senior transportation network expands to Marlborough

Ride program for seniors gets $10K national grant [ITNRacineCounty]

A local nonprofit that provides rides to senior citizens received a grant Tuesday worth $10,000, about a sixth of the organization’s 2011 budget.

ITNRacineCounty was awarded $10,000 from the Wal-Mart Foundation’s “12 Days of Giving” holiday campaign. The campaign will award $1.5 million to 140 organizations meeting people’s basic needs across the country. Organizations were first nominated on Facebook in November and then were reviewed by Wal-Mart associates and a Wal-Mart Foundation panel, with winners chosen from more than 21,677 nominations, according to a press release.

Terrace Park woman is transportation network’s 10,000th rider [ITNGreaterCincinnati]

10000th transportation service delivered by ITNGreaterCincinnati

“Some people don’t have the eyesight or mobility to catch a bus, or the money it takes to call a cab, yet everyone wants to engage in a social life,” said Schuster.  ”ITNGC allows people to stay active and connected to their friends and community, as well as build a friendship with their driver.”

The 10,000th rider was Louise Stalnaker, 72, of Terrace Park, who uses the affordable membership transportation service to go to church, the hairdresser, the Alzheimer Center and volunteer each week at Christ Church Episcopal Cathedral’s 5,000 Club, a free weekly dinner for the homeless and hungry.
