Ride service earns $5,000 AT&T grant [ITNNorthCentralCT]

The donation from AT&T will help the service publicize the need for more volunteer drivers to help transport its clients.

Since 2009, ITN North Central Connecticut has given more than 14,000 rides and that number is expected to rise.

“Last year, we had about 325 rides a month, and now we’re up to 550 a month,” said executive director Margaret Smith Hale. “It’s growing every day, and we’re just trying to be proactive.”

New transit network to make seniors more mobile [ITNMetroDetroit]

A new program is promising to put the Motor City in reach of senior citizens who have hung up the car keys for good.

Starting this November, a nonprofit senior transportation group called Independent Transportation Network Metro Detroit is scheduled to begin hitting the roads of Oakland County and parts of Detroit.

ITNLasVegasValley marks 25,000 rider milestone

Independent Transportation Network Las Vegas Valley had its 25,000 rider, Sept. 19. This may not seem impressive to some, but considering that the company first launched in the Las Vegas region with its grand opening rides in September of 2010 and marked their 5,000th ride a little more than a year later, things seem to be moving rather quickly.

This latest achievement took place at Annabelle Pines. The riders were Janet & Walter Stevens, who were going to visit a family member in Prestige Assisted Living at Mira Loma, near the corner of Wigwam & Pecos.

The Stevens have been receiving rides from ITN since January.

“We’re loyal customers,” the couple said.”We just call and they know our voices.”

ITNRacineCounty receive 25 percent of the purchases from the “sundae of the month”

Laura Garski, left, program director of ITNRacineCounty, received a donation from George Liapis, owner of Georgie Porgie’s, 5502 Washington Ave. ITNRacineCounty was selected as the nonprofit organization to receive 25 percent of the purchases from the “sundae of the month” program last summer.
