The Good Old Days? A Lunchtime seminar with Katherine Freund, founder of ITN America

August 22, 2011

Katherine Freund is the founder and President of ITN America®. The Independent Transportation Network® (ITN) allows seniors to maintain their independence and their dignity by providing and supporting sustainable, community-based transportation services. With safe transportation, older adults remain vital to the economic and social health of their communities. Mobility empowers them. They stay connected to family, friends and community, businesses retain their valuable customers, and importantly, adult children find relief from a daunting and complex problem. Katherine was recently featured in the Wall Street Journal as one of the “12 People Who Are Changing Your Retirement.”

The Young Foundation has been involved in innovation around ageing for decades. Michael Young pioneered new thinking about active ageing, and helped create many new organisations, from the University of the Third Age to Grandparents Plus. Today our work encompasses research and the design and launch of new ventures that can better meet the needs of older people.

In this lunchtime seminar Katherine will provide an introduction to the work of ITN America, the philosophy and inspiration behind it, and consider what innovations could make the most difference to elderly people in the UK.

The event will be held in the Michael Young Room at the Young Foundation – to RSVP please reply to by Monday 22 August.
