ITNGreaterCincinnati: Deaconess Associations Foundation to Host Annual Golf Outing

August 3, 2011

21st annual event benefits helping
Cincinnati senior citizens ‘age in place’

Grab your clubs and some friends to end the summer with a golf game for a good cause at the 21st annual Deaconess Golf Outing on Monday, September 26 at Maketewah Country Club in Cincinnati.

Outing proceeds help the Deaconess Associations Foundation (DAF) bring the latest in senior independence technology to the aging population. Last year the golf outing raised $46,000.

This year’s golf outing will help finance the newest in senior technology for Cottingham, a Sharonville retirement community owned by Deaconess, said Pat Ward, executive director at Deaconess Assns. Foundation (DAF).

“Everyone recognizes that institutional care for the aging is extraordinarily expensive,” said Ward. “If we can keep seniors in their homes longer, they will be happier and healthier at a cost that is considerably less than nursing home care.

“There is new technology out there that will help seniors remain independent in their own homes, whether that home is in a neighborhood or retirement community. We want to bring it into Cottingham for the benefit of residents.”

Foursome rate is $1,000, individual golfer rate is $275, and “Partner with your Parent” is a special twosome rate of $450. All packages include lunch and dinner.

Registration, driving range and putting green will be from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.; scramble and shotgun start will commence shortly thereafter. Dinner and awards will be held at 5 p.m.

Maketewah Country Club is located at 5401 Reading Road in Cincinnati. To donate, register or sponsor, go to www.LiveFull.org and click DONATE, or call (513) 559-2664.
