Medicine Hat News posted a story about the event initiated by Alberta Motor Association in order to discuss exciting transportation options for seniors who no longer drive.

Ride Network Begins Service In Town

WETHERSFIELD – The Independent Transportation Network will begin operation in town on June 1. As part of the Central ITN region, the town has been training volunteers and is ready to sign up subscribers.

Regional Transportation Opportunities for Seniors in Tucson, Arizona

Tucson, Arizona

Rodney Glassman is the Ward 2 Tucson City Councilman and a member of the Pima Council on Aging Board of Directors from Arizona. One of his campaign commitments is to expand transit opportunities for seniors. Rodney presented the ITN concept to the Board of the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) at their April meeting. The project proposal will be reviewed by RTA Board for funding authorization in the fall 2009. Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Walk For Rides a huge success. Our volunteers worked hard handing out brochures, volunteer driver applications, and T-shirts. We couldn’t have done it without their hard work and dedication.

ITNSarasota Update

The Community Foundation of Sarasota’s $125,000 grant from the James Franklin Warnell and Dorothy J. Warnell Fund to Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Sarasota-Manatee established ITNSarasota as one of the new affiliates of the national nonprofit membership organization. ITNSarasota is well-underway with its new Executive Director Tanice Knopp and plans to begin offering rides in the spring of 2009.
